How to Clean and Maintain Your Boucle Furniture

Boucle fabric furniture has again seen a rise in popularity for interior home decorations. The nubby-textured fabric’s soft and luxurious appearance has proven appealing for contemporary room styles.

However, like any other furniture, cleaning and maintaining your boucle upholstery is essential. The fabric can get damaged and dirty quickly due to its yarn loops, but with the right amount of care, you can keep them in pristine condition for a long time.

Whether you’re reading this for your current furniture or future reference, here are some tips on how to maintain boucle upholstery:

Cleaning Boucle Furniture

Cleaning boucle fabric can be tricky. To clean boucle furniture from dust and dirt, you’ll need a vacuum, a soft-bristled brush, a lint roller, and a water-based fabric cleaner.

Follow these steps:

  • Vacuum – Start by removing any dust and dirt on the furniture’s surface using a vacuumwith an upholstery attachment.Begin at the top and work down. Don’t forget to vacuum between cushions.
  • Soft-Bristled Brush–After vacuuming, gently loosen and wipe away debris from the fabric using a soft-bristled brush. Avoid being too harsh to prevent damage.
  • Lint Roller–Hair and other fibres can be hard to remove from boucle, so use a lint roller. Lint rollers are fantastic tools that keep the boucle upholstery looking clean.
  • Water-Based Fabric Cleaner–Once you have brushed off the dirt and hair, use a clean, dry cloth to rub off some stains. Then, soak the cloth in fabric cleaner and gently rub it on the stains until it disappears.

It can take some time for boucle furniture to completely dry; until then, don’t use it or replace cushions. Don’t use hair dryers since they could shrink the fabric. Instead, let it air-dry naturally.

Cleaning Spills

We recommend spot cleaning if you ever accidentally spill any liquid on your boucle furniture.

Since boucle fabric has low absorption, there is a significant chance to remove the liquid before it seeps in. To start, gently blot the area with a paper towel or white cloth, careful not to push the fluid into the fabric.Afterwards, dab the spot with a fabric cleaner or lukewarm water.
